The Patagonian Train, which links the Andes Mountains to the Patagonian Steppe, has resumed operations in Argentina. During the journey, passengers can enjoy the mountainous landscapes and typical lakes of the Río Negro province via two main excursions: the Bariloche-Viedma connection and the trip to Los Juncos. The service between Bariloche and Viedma connects the renowned mountain destination, famous for winter skiing, to the capital of the Río Negro province. This route offers stunning views of the region, crossing the province from east to west. There is also an option for an overnight trip to Bariloche departing from the San Antonio Oeste station.
The Los Juncos tour lasts 50 minutes and takes travelers from Bariloche station to Perito Moreno station in Paraje Los Juncos, where they can witness the contrast between the Andes and the Steppe, also known as the Patagonian Desert. This tourist service is available on Fridays and Saturdays, departing at 7 PM and returning at 11 PM. Upon reaching Perito Moreno station, passengers are treated to a traditional dinner at Casa de Chapa and make a stop at Los Juncos steakhouse. In the evening, they enjoy a folklore show featuring traditional Argentine dances and music before returning to Bariloche.
Ticket prices vary depending on the carriage, ranging from 81,000 Argentine pesos (approximately R$ 436) for children aged 4 to 12, to 110,000 Argentine pesos (approximately R$ 592) for adults not residing in the Río Negro province. Reservations can be made on the official Patagonian Train website.
